The Winter League resumed at Wetherby tennis club on Tuesday after the devastating floods over Christmas had left the courts and surrounds very badly damaged. After court cleaning and replacement outer fencing work was completed, Wetherby took on Rufforth in the reopening game played on a dry but bitterly cold evening.
The tie was played in a good spirit with some quality tennis on show but the visitors ran out worthy winners with an impressive performance which keeps alive their title hopes.
Rufforth move up to second in the table although they have played more games than other challengers so will need results to go their way to maintain their assault.
