We predicted last week the Ladies Second team would win at Knaresborough this morning and in a tight battle the girls duly obliged running out narrow 58-50 winners in glorious sunshine.
The team have now recorded consecutive victories as they continue their promotion charge from Fulford Ladies League Division Three.
With Debbie Vines missing with an arm injury, Louise Williams stepped in as replacement to partner captain and current player of the season Rachel Butterworth. Williams fresh from helping Wetherby A win at Thirsk on Thursday in the mixed doubles continued her good form in assisting here to secure two wins from three rubbers.
Trish Bell returned from absence last week to partner Marise Richfield and the pair were solid and also achieved two wins from their three games.
However Jill Abel and Fiona Chantrey were to ultimately take the plaudits for Wetherby. Again it was two wins from three but in gathering 22 points they were top scorers on the day.
All three of our couples lost to a very strong and impressive couple from Knaresborough and had to dig deep to earn a much needed away day success.
The team are back on home turf next Saturday when the visitors will be Appleton Roebuck with a 2-30pm start
