The Ladies second team made the trip north this morning to the small village of Tollerton for their Fulford Ladies League Three clash.

An early start of 10am and overcast conditions certainly didn’t hinder our girls as once again they were victorious by a comfortable 74 games to 34.

The key to success this term has been a strong squad depth and today was no exception as they overcame the loss of Angie Bell, Louise Williams and Jill Abel without any problem.

Debbie Vines returned from injury to partner captain Rachel Butterworth and the experienced duo were soon at their best in securing three victories. Impressive rubber wins of 9-3 and 10-2 was followed with a closer and hard fought 7-5 win to accrue 26 games on the morning with only 10 conceded.

Janine Smith who has stepped in on many occasions this term partnered Trish Bell today and the couple would be happy with two wins. It was a strange day really as they managed the biggest winning margin of 11-1 but also suffered the biggest defeat in losing 10-2. A 7-5 victory ensured 20 game points however which was more than enough to aid the team score.

Fiona Chantry was her usual stylish best and accompanied by Marise Richfield the pair made short work of their opponents in twice winning 10-2 to finish with an impressive 28 game points and only 8 conceded to earn the plaudits.

Since an opening day loss at Wistow the team have bounced back to record four consecutive wins to move into second place in the table and this sets things up very nicely for the game of the season so far when they visit table toppers Fulford on Saturday June 4th with an early start time of 9-30am.

Well done to all and we will bring you news on the clash of the big guns in two week’s time.
