The York 2 mixed doubles team entertained Stillington this evening hoping to build on an important win at David Lloyd last week.
With captain Debbie Vines on holiday, Rachel Butterworth took over the reins and fresh from a short break away in Norfolk herself, was in excellent form. She teamed up with Stuart Robinson who produced arguably his best tennis of the season and the duo recorded an impressive 24 points on the night. Two 9-3 victories and a 6-6 draw with both players in excellent form gave the team a strong foundation.
Trish Bell and Mike Connolly are a consistent partnership and they too were unbeaten on the night winning 7-5 and drawing their other two rubbers 6-6 for a final tally of 19.
Marise Richfield kindly stepped in from the ladies second team and was partnering the youngster Ollie Boyes Park. The pair struggled with just a solitary draw but a narrow 7-5 defeat meant the pair picked up useful points and a final return of 14 ensured overall success by 57-51.
This keeps the team well in the hunt for back to back promotions as they move onto four wins from six and a solid top three league position.
The team have an excellent chance to maintain the momentum when they visit bottom side Bishopthorpe next Tuesday who have yet to win a match this season.
Good luck there and as always look out for a match report with news of how the team get on.
