Friday night was a little more chilly of late but the weather remained fine and dry for the annual short tennis event organised and run by Angela Crossley and Jo Coverdale. 20 players entered of various standard but the short tennis format meant it was a real leveller and we saw some dramatic results throughout the evening. Players were asked to compete over 6 rounds in a mixture of singles and doubles games played over 10 minute periods. After some tremendous tennis and some extremely hard fought and close battles, Josh Bayliss and Janine Smith were the top male and female competitors. They faced each other in a short final with Smith shocking her younger opponent to lift the trophy, well win a box of chocolates anyway!!!.Helped by wine and Pimms the players battled well with plenty of laughter on court.
Well done to both organisers and participants who made the evening a really enjoyable one played with unlimited fun.
