You may be aware that Wetherby Castlegarth Tennis Club is holding it’s Annual General Meeting next Wednesday at 7.30pm.This meeting will reflect on the year passed and the year ahead. This occasion will also see the opportunity for members to stand for Committee roles of Chairman, Club Secretary and Treasurer. As current Chairman I am happy to stand for re-election, however the roles of Club Secretary and Treasurer will require members to step forward and contribute to the club through these offices.
The current officers, Mike Butterworth (Club Secretary) and Mark Vines (Treasurer) have been outstanding in their commitment to securing and growing the Club’s facilities during their time, and they would be delighted to talk interested members through their activities and commitments. For my part, the Club is exceptionally blessed with the mix of individuals with different skills and viewpoints around the Committee table, and we would welcome new thoughts and voices to join us in maintaining and building the Tennis Club and its facilities.
The Club is run by volunteers, and as such it doesn’t operate without individuals investing discretionary time and effort. It doesn’t happen by itself. The quality of the playing experience at Wetherby reflects the efforts of previous guardians of the Club, and the opportunity now exists for members to get involved in a supportive and enthusiastic environment.
Whether you are able to attend the AGM or not next Wednesday, I would urge you to register an interest for one of these positions with myself or Mike Butterworth.
It is often easy to believe that someone else will step forward, however these offices represent a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the well-being of your tennis club.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Chairman – Wetherby Castlegarth Tennis Club
