The Quiz night last Saturday organised by Jo and Tim Coverdale alongside coach Angela Crossley attracted a sell out crowd with the evening a great success enjoyed by all.
Tim was his usual superb self behind the microphone and kept the large crowd thoroughly entertained throughout the evening. Plenty of wit and charm proved an excellent recipe and with questions difficult but challenging it had all the teams searching deep into their memory banks and vaults of knowledge.
He even had time to help serve the excellent and delicious supper cooked and prepared by his better half Jo with Roger Grigg an all too willing participant on this occasion. Grigg was quite the entertainer himself as he enjoyed good banter with Tim during the evening and was perhaps the king of the music section despite his team not troubling the judges !
Men’s first team captain Roger Fawcus is not only a very accomplished tennis player but proved himself well educated off the court as he was crowned the winner of ‘Stand up, Sit down’!
The two Rachel’s, Butterworth and Hill are extremely tough opponents on court and a match for most but they were not able to transfer those skills to the quiz table!. Ann Jones gamely led her team on but had to be content with finishing sixth of seven whilst Greg and Helen Vince were a part of the impressive Peter Johnson team which ultimately finished fourth.
There was plenty of concentration and discussion as players delved deeply to recall answers. Ian Teasdale proved himself pretty shrewd as he waited for the queue to disappear before availing himself of more food as we can clearly see in the above footage!
And finally well done to our deserved winners who proved a class apart with facts, information and the skills which allowed them to clinch the title and the bubbly!
Another terrific report on a great ev ening, well done everyone.
