The temperatures were soaring and the sun shining for today’s July start of the month competition. Five rounds were played with mainly mixed but occasionally men’s doubles played over six games with partners swopping after three games. This was so as not to penalise slower players on time with all games completed to a finish. The event was tight and competitive with the result still in the balance as the final games were played in round five.
Eventually Janine Smith was crowned ladies champion with 17 points ahead of Bev Lyn on 14. In the men’s, Bradley Triffitt managed an excellent 22 to finish 2 points clear of Tom Harrington on 20 with Greg Vince third on 19. Dad Mike Triffitt was left languishing behind on 11 and struggled in the heat!!
Janine and Bradley took the respective titles but Brad kindly donated his prize to event organiser Rachel Butterworth who ensured a smooth and successful operation as the competition unfolded. The ladies received a free therapy treatment of their choice at Anita Triffitt’s Home of Holistic Therapy and Well Being.
Triffitt junior settled for a portion of fish n chips ahead of his Under 14 semi final later that afternoon.
Well done for those contributing and playing today and see you all back in August.
On Wednesday Angela Crossley will also be hosting a social tournament at the regular social session from 6pm so please attend if possible thanks.
