The Mark Jackson Memorial end of season Tournament took place at Castlegarth this afternoon. Sunny conditions ensured we had a bumper turnout of 22 which meant all five courts were in use throughout. Members played mainly mixed doubles over five 15 minute rounds with the leading male and female sharing the trophy. Marc Bickers showed his first team class in collecting 19 points to take the men’s award whilst in the ladies Marise Richfield bagged 16 points to take the honours.
Well done Marc and Marise on their success today.
Trish Bell and Debbie Vines organised and did a fantastic job in keeping the matches ticking over whilst once again a big thank you to Helen Robinson for providing the prizes and continuing to support and remember Mark Jackson with this memorial event.
Great work as always from Debbie Vines and the whistle blowing Trish Bell who ensured the event ran smoothly.
Just to reiterate what we said at the event concerning social tennis. The Monday and Wednesday evening social from 6pm continues to run all year round and has been well attended recently and the Sunday 2pm sessions will also continue alone with Tuesday afternoon. We will take a two month break from the start of the month Sunday Tournament and hope to re start in February weather permitting.
Thanks to all for supporting today and making the event a success. It was nice to see players from our first teams on court and new members too giving us a real cross section of talents.
