The Mark Jackson End of Season Tournament was held this afternoon at Castlegarth. Dry and often sunny weather greeted the players and with 16 in attendance a perfect number for organiser Helen Robinson to work with. With four courts in operation the format allowed for doubles matches to be played and members enjoyed best of four games before swapping partners and playing another best of four meaning eight points were available in each round. With four rounds played a player could in effect reach a maximum of 32 points.
As always there were prizes for the top male and female with the trophy shared between the pair. Going into the final round the men’s event was now a two horse race with Mike Richards and Steve Plant joint leaders on 18. However new member Steve was able to show his undoubted class and quicken clear to finish champion on 25 with Mike runner up on 22.
In the ladies Fiona Chantry was in electric form and was able to coast home after putting daylight between herself and the chasing pack. She finished with an excellent 22.
Thanks to all for participating in this regular end of season finale and there was some lovely tennis played throughout the afternoon. A Big thanks to Helen Robinson and Mike Triffitt for organising.
