At the Leeds AGM,held at Alwoodley this evening, the Wetherby men’s third team were delighted to see they had been reprieved and will still be playing in Division Five this summer. After a battling campaign, in a very strong section, they suffered heartache on the final day of the season when defeat at Dacre Banks meant they were relegated on points difference. However with two new teams admitted to the league it means Wetherby and St Chads , who had finished bottom, were both reinstated and will both continue in Division Five now. Thankfully the Six Divisions will all consist of six teams this season too which makes the set up much fairer.
In other news, the Ladies league were proposing to change to a 12 game format away from sets but after taking feedback decided against the move and will continue with sets like the men’s league.
At the York AGM, held the same evening, the men’s second team, who were also narrowly relegated, were also reprieved after restructuring and will therefore remain in Division Four.
