The ladies Leeds First team have enjoyed a promotion winning season and entertained rivals and fellow promoted outfit Collingham at an overcast and at times wet Castlegarth last night. Wetherby had already been crowned champions of Division 3 joining the Leeds men’s first team and Harrogate Mixed A and B in making it an amazing four divisional title wins this season for the club. Captain Bev Lyn was away as was regular Katie Barrett so Helen Robinson kindly stepped in. The hosts proved too strong as they ran out worthy 6-2 winners to complete an unbeaten campaign.
Anne Lillywhite, Ann Jones, Helen Robinson and Mary Fidler completed an unbeaten season with another success.
Thanks to our friends from Collingham with Sally Johnson, Christine Macpherson, Elizabeth Douthwaite and Janette Ashbee proving tough opponents and also celebrating promotion too.
Eleven victories and one draw ensured Wetherby finished five points clear at the summit.
Anne Lillywhite, who was the leading lady for Wetherby B Mixed, was also top of the Ladies team stats winning 34 of her 38 sets played and she was also the leading player in the whole of Division three to make it a season to remember.
Thanks to all thirteen ladies who represented the team this year and good luck with life in Division two in 2020.
